Creating a Status Page

URL Structure & Domains

Standard Status Pages (Free Tier)

Free tier users get standard status pages hosted on Aepto's domain:

URL Format: https://yourdomain.com/status/{url-slug}
Example: https://aepto.com/status/my-status-page

Setting Up Custom Domains

Step-by-Step Setup Process

Add Custom Domain

In your status page settings, enter your desired custom domain (e.g., status.yourcompany.com) and save. Aepto will validate your plan allows custom domains and provide DNS instructions.

Plan Requirements: Custom domains require Professional+ plans. Free and Starter plans can only use Aepto's standard domains.

Configure DNS

Add a CNAME record in your DNS settings pointing your custom domain to Aepto's status page service:

Type: CNAME
Name: status (or your subdomain)
Value: status.aepto.com
TTL: 3600 (1 hour)

DNS changes can take 5-15 minutes to propagate, sometimes up to 24 hours depending on your DNS provider.

Validate & Activate

Return to your status page settings and click "Validate Domain". Aepto will check your DNS configuration and automatically set up your custom domain.

Automatic Setup: Once validated, Aepto handles SSL certificates, domain configuration, and white-labeling automatically.
Troubleshooting
  • DNS Not Propagated: Wait 5-15 minutes after adding CNAME record, or up to 24 hours
  • Wrong CNAME Value: Ensure it points exactly to status.aepto.com (case-sensitive)
  • Plan Limitations: Upgrade to Professional+ plan if custom domains are not available
  • Domain Already Used: Each custom domain can only be used by one status page
