API Rate Limits

API Rate Limits watches your third-party API quotas (Stripe, HubSpot, GitHub, and others) - not Aepto Platform API 429s. Open Monitoring, then API Rate Limits. This feature requires a paid plan that includes API quota monitoring.

Not the same as Platform API limits

If you are building against Aepto's own API and hit rate limits, see Developers -> Errors & rate limits. This page is only for monitoring credentials you paste for other vendors.

Add an API to monitor

  1. Open Monitoring -> API Rate Limits. If your plan does not include the feature, you will see Upgrade to monitor API quotas - upgrade under Billing & plans first.
  2. Click Add API. The dialog is titled along the lines of Monitor an API quota.
  3. Choose a Provider from the list (CRM, payments, ecommerce, AI, developer tools, Google/Microsoft, and similar categories - for example HubSpot, Stripe, Shopify, GitHub).
  4. Enter the credentials the provider form asks for (API key, token, or OAuth fields as shown).
  5. Optional: set a Label so the card is easy to recognize.
  6. Choose a Check interval (for example 5 minutes through several hours, depending on what the UI offers).
  7. If your provider is missing, check This API is not in the list (auto-detect or declared limits). Enter a custom name, probe URL, token, and either Auto-detect headers or declare a daily limit yourself.
  8. Click Discover and start monitoring. Aepto issues a lightweight authenticated GET on a schedule, reads rate-limit headers where available, and discards the response body.

Tune alerts on a monitor

  1. Click the API card to open that monitor's settings.
  2. Adjust Check interval if needed.
  3. Enable the alert types you want: Threshold alerts, Forecast alerts, Anomaly alerts. The system also surfaces exhausted, recovered, throttled, auth-failed, and signal-lost style statuses on the card.
  4. Click Save Changes.
  5. If credentials expire, click Update token -> Verify and save.
  6. To stop monitoring, click Remove.

Where alerts go

Assign email contacts with the API Rate Limits notification type on Contacts. For automation, subscribe a webhook to api_rate_limits.* events on Alert webhooks.

FAQ

Is this for Aepto’s own Platform API rate limits?

No. API Rate Limits monitors your third-party vendor quotas (Stripe, HubSpot, GitHub, and similar). For Aepto API 429s, see Developers → Errors & rate limits.

Why do I see Upgrade to monitor API quotas?

API quota monitoring requires a paid plan that includes the feature. Upgrade under Billing & plans, then return to Monitoring → API Rate Limits.

What does Aepto store from my API credentials?

Aepto runs a lightweight authenticated GET on your schedule, reads rate-limit headers where available, and discards the response body—it does not mirror full API responses in your account.

My provider is not in the list—can I still monitor it?

Check This API is not in the list (auto-detect or declared limits) when adding an API. Enter a probe URL and token, then choose Auto-detect headers or declare a daily limit yourself.

Do API Rate Limits checks use AI credits?

No. Header-based quota probes are separate from AI credit consumption. See AI credits.

What alert types can I enable on a monitor?

On each API card you can tune Threshold alerts, Forecast alerts, and Anomaly alerts, plus statuses like exhausted, recovered, throttled, auth-failed, and signal-lost on the card.
